Alien in a foreign land..

Thought hard on the best possible way to reach Marina Square for the sports club gang dinner.. PIE, CTE, Lavendar Road, Sims Ave..blah. Settled on the the CTE route via balestier. An interesting sight caught me whilst making the lane filter to balestier road. Under an old angsana tree, a dark skinned man stood with palms placed in a "praying" sorta manner. Indeed, he appeared like he was praying to a typical chinese red alter placed under a mysterious tree.

Didn't seem like a local to me..his outfit and all. More like a foreign worker. for a spilt moment after the sight, i felt his alienation in a foreign land. the need to seek faith, help or whatsoever luck from a diety or higher being, away from his homeland. mebbe we all do need that bit of faith somehow from above...
Personal Time...
Finally managed some personal time today after yesterday's paper. think i was sent to the abbatoir. anyhow its over.
Trottled about for ingredients for today's baking spree. Yes i do get into that occasional madness of baking.

Today's bake list - Durian Puffs

Been a while since i tried my hands at choux pastry. Absolutely not the most fun thing when u've gotta whisk real vigorously at the pastry mixture at optimum temperature ~ 90 degrees celsius. Madness. Round one was bad.. temp was too low. The pastry turned out flat. Round 2 and 3 was much better. End result - About 200 lil choux puffs came out of the oven

Feeling stressed and worried today..couldn't get myself to join in the discussion with the rest of gang.
Just praying that all will turn out well on saturday morning.. probably not my favourite subject..still, i'll
have to brace thru the paper.

spent the morning at the clinic getting med check.. don't quite fancy the blood test albeit a previous internship
experience at one of the big MNCs that produce these much hated needles. wanna know hw its done? let me share
with u sometime...its fascinating.. the wonders of science and technology. alright here we go again..science...blah blah.

buddy's kinda stressed up too.. to think we joked abt the matter just 2 days back- speak of the devil. just hope that
everyone tides over this period well.

amies dropped by today to prep up for her exams too. had an interesting discussion with her- can there ever be a perfect
fit? square fits square? a circle fits the square too?

Randomness

That seems to occur quite a fair bit in everyday life. How molecules in fluids move about.. aqueous state, liquid state, gaseous state. Goodness, that took quite some effort- to recall the scientific states of matter. the jargons used to spew at ease in laboratory class.. over lunch and tea with the mates in school. shall try to flip the old books for a refresher course after the exam . miss the good ole days..

mkts somewhat move in randomness as well.. well at least it states in the formula which i'm cracking - N(d1) & N(d2)... ok those of you who are in the same boat as myself should know what i'm referring to.

roots of plants grow randomly no? doubt there's a mechanism that dictates how the roots reach out to tap underground water supply in an orderly manner. hmm hence the complex structure of roots when u lift a balsam plant? mebbe thats evolution?

physics is a fundamental of all sciences..or should it be mathematics? ok this is random..hahah
somehow....somewhere...sometimes...

i miss my curls..the wavy hair....

women! we're all the same. u wanna have the nice straight hair when
your curls are nice and bouncy.. when the curls are up...u die for the flat-ironed
ones....arghhhh...

alrite...let me stick to the current style and ensure it gets nicely treated before
stupid thoughts come along to trash the tresses into hay.
Counting ...and counting..
a few more days and i'll be done with the paper..
can't wait for that to come soon..

next up.. to plan for my retreat..

me: hey could i borrow ur europe 'lonely planet'..
xxx: erm...i think u still have it!!
me: really??? no way...its returned in a big bag..
xxx: i dun think so...i dun have it...
me: okok...let me check..i am sure i dun have it
me: AH HAH! i found it! heheh hiding in my cupboard
xxx: mutter mutter...din i tell u ....argghhhh

sometimes i'm such a dodo...

Post bkk..
Touched down from bkk at abt 10ish..interestingly, the flight landed at T3. Honestly, was too tired to roam abt the terminal. Just wanted sleep. The 3 days in bkk was tiring. the weather didnt help much either with dry and hot season preping up. Only comfort- exec lvl room at conrad.

One would probably think i'm silly to not have extended my stay for a wkend of shopping. Yes i wasn't keen at all- get the job done and leave the country for home

Half time

First paper's down.. another to go in 2 week's time. Met up with urai, linda, chris, jas and chef baba for high tea at ritz. was urai's bday lil tea time party. perfect time to unwind after a paper.

trotted about orchard with alicia and did our usual girly stuffs- shopping! chanced upon 2 lovely sundresses and a lil pearl trinket..
Spent some time with the folks and mich over coffee. always enjoy such simple sit down chit chat sessions with them

Sunday's kinda wound down. Didn't feel like doing anything much. So no mugging. Went to the museum with james for the last day of Greek exhibits from The Lourve. Totally enjoyed the slow afternoon at museum.

The week ahead's gonna be busy and messy. Pray for me...

Decision made

Finally, the decision has been made. It was difficult. The situation was certainly one of the most unpleasant i've ever encountered. The past month was mind boggling with thoughts of what ifs running all day long.

The ability to predict and forecast what the future holds, gives one comfort and assurance. However, circumstances hardly unfold according to our forecasts. The risk was huge. Almost no historical point of reference. I was uncertain about the decision. The first round made me uneasy. The day dragged by.

Mustered the courage and made the second round of decision. This time, i feel much better- at ease. Ready to embark a new journey of uncertain waters. Probably wouldn't be easy. But i'm certain to make it work out right...very much in my favour.

pitter patter..
and i ran in the rain. contemplated on the run, but the sluggish discomfort was getting to me. the usual running route was exceptionally peaceful today. the light rain in the face felt nice..seemed like sprays off water from the sprinklers in the gardens. the run without joey felt a lil different. the last run was full of chatter, this time round was just me, myself and yvonne. i enjoyed it. recalled how the marina park used to be when 3 of us ran together. 2 years passed and the singapore flyer's up. the grandstand for national parade piled up quickly like lego. fascinating.

indeed the waterfront has developed rapidly. too fast for my liking. the once lush green marina south is now plastered with cranes piling the foundation for the upcoming casino and financial hub. honestly i hate it. yet, somehw, i have to accept it..the country's gdp is bound to leap.

took on a slightly different route back. ran across the bridge that links esplanade to fullerton. i wanted an evening view of the waterfront..on a chilly drizzly evening.

back to the gym. loads of rats like me. i have come to realise that my workout regime sux. haha. now for a more svelte figure.

The last session of classroom teaching is finally over. 2 weeks more to the exams before i get my break. Managed to steal some time after class yesterday for a movie. Caught the local production - The Leap years. Was a lovely production. simple and heartwarming. maybe there is that special "dreamy, bluey" person out there afterall for everyone's pursuit...

queried if history should just be stored or deleted. ans: delete

reply: ok maybe i will

everything's on a clean slate. now.. to work on the new year resolutions. have to get them sorted out once more. re-prioritise. the list has to be more lean. item1 is out.

the wheeze seemed to have subsided. maybe its time to start working out a lil. and i've yet to attain being a pescatarian. arghh

the whatever tendency..
gets more frequent. better not get easier
History..

Great subject indeed. depicts the occurance of events..records details for future reference, gives insights to lessons learnt. allows one to walk back in time, to experience and embrace during earlier times. but does it matter if history was ever preserved?

maybe...maybe not....
